Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I terminate my lease for reasons related to COVID-19?

No, according to guidance from Student Legal Services, COVID-19 is not a legal ground to terminate your housing lease. For more information about possible exceptions for terminating a lease, please see this guidance from Student Legal Services.

Where can I look for housing?

If you are interested in subleasing an apartment, you can contact Student Legal Services as they are assisting many students who are looking for sub-tenants. They can add your name to a list that will be shared with the students who are hoping to sublease their apartments. You can contact Student Legal Services at slegal@ucla.edu or (310) 825 - 9894. Please be sure to include your name, phone number, and email address.

With classes moving to online formats, what will happen to my benefits?

The president signed the S.3503 bill on March 19th, providing VA with the authority it needs to administer VA education benefits without disruption as schools across the nation respond to COVID-19 (lasting until the end of Fall 2020) and covering both GI Bill and Vocational Rehabilitation. This means that you will receive your housing allowance at the in-person rate until the end of next fall term.

Is the VRC still operating even though the physical location is closed?

Yes! We are setting up a virtual VRC Front Desk through Zoom that will be operational Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm during Summer Sessions. Anyone in the military-affiliated community is welcome to click on the link and drop in for tutoring, for answers to logistical questions, or just to chat! We are also planning on hosting virtual community events like gaming or group exercise to keep our community strong and connected in a time when it is all too easy to feel socially isolated. In addition, please feel free to reach out to our director at eives@saonet.ucla.edu with any specific questions or concerns.
