Join us at the Veteran Resource Center for From LIFE to LAB, a Veterans in Research event designed to bridge scientific research with real-world challenges. PhD researchers Tania Lugo and Shantée Ayala-Rosario will each give a 20-minute talk, followed by an open Q&A session where attendees can engage in discussion and ask questions about their research journeys. This event is a great opportunity for pre-health students, veterans, and anyone interested in research to learn, connect, and explore how neuroscience informs our understanding of mental health and addiction.
Topics include:
• Sleep and opioid use disorder (Tania Lugo, PhD Psychology)
• PTSD and the SEFL model (Shantée Ayala-Rosario, PhD Physiology)

During this event, volunteers pick up 90,000+ flags that mark the grave site of our nations service members. This annual event occurs in the morning on the Tuesday following Memorial Day and is open to all students, faculty, and staff, as well as anyone from the greater Los Angeles community. RSVP today!

The UCLA Veteran Resource Center and the UCLA ROTC programs, along with members of the community, have supported the Los Angeles National Cemetery (LANC) in a Memorial Day service program for the last 8 years. During this event, participants pick up 90,000+ flags that mark the grave site of our nations service members.

VRC hosted a Year End dinner for current and graduating students at Pauley Pavilion.

[POSTPONED] For those new students who were admitted into UCLA for Fall 2024, this was an open house for all things UCLA for the transfer student. Benefit presentation, campus fairs, meet with current staff and students - an open house style were the order for the day.

On Thursday, April 18th (5-6:00pm) the UCLA Veterans in Healthcare hosted an event to Introduce the program and allow our community to meet with current Medical School Students, Ph.D. candidates, and other graduate students at the Veteran Resource Center. This information session was for undergraduate students, Both Veterans and Military-Connected Students who are pre-health and interested in pursuing a career in healthcare (Medicine, Dental, Nursing, etc.). The session will review:
*UCLA’s pre-health/prep opportunities
*Information on the MedMentor Program
*Volunteer/Research Opportunities
*Clinical Opportunities

A group of attorneys and advocates spoke to students about the case and its implications for unhoused peoples. at the Law School.

For those new Freshmen students who were admitted into UCLA for Fall 2024, this was an open house for all things UCLA. Benefit presentation, campus fairs, meet with current staff and students - an open house style were the order for the day.

To celebrate all the women who are in the service, the VRC hosted an event on Thursday April 11 (6-8pm) Food, crafts, music, and good company made for a fun event.

All UCLA Veterans and dependents were invited to sign up to attend the LA Zoo on Sat. April 6.

Career Center presented a drop-in workshop to go over their services, resources, spring quarter events& fairs, and alumni services.

Students met with a UCLA Career Center employee (who is an Army National Guard Veteran) to get advice on how to best tailor your military experiences for your resume!



To celebrate K9 Veterans Day and to assist with finals preparations, we held an event with therapy dogs on Bruin walk. A partnership with the PAWS OF LOVE organization who help over 120 students during the event.

UCLA students who are Veterans join a Saturday at the National History Museum. This event is important environment where kids can meet and play. Funding for this program was possible by Operation Hattrick.

It was a 2 day workshop with Deloitte and WWP for interview tips, resume building, elevator pitches and mock interviews with HR managers. 20 student veterans and dependents attended from UCLA, UC Riverside, CSU Fullerton and USC. Students participated in 1-on-1 mock interviews with HR managers from 17 companies..

Due to a family emergency, this event has been cancelled.

Thanks to all who came for the UC Workshop at UCLA. Appreciate the various staff members of the community college VRCs promoting and driving students over to meet with Bruins, hear about their transfer process, share bread together at lunch, go on a campus tour, and making new friends. Thankful for the VRC student staff members, Ana from Admissions, Stephen from the VA, and alumnus Oren Morgan who assisted to making the Workshop a success!

On Nov. 11, 2023 the VRC hosted a tailgate for current student Veterans, dependent and spouses. They a few hours before the game and had a chance to meet alumni and friends of the VRC.

On Thurs. Nov. 9th, UCLA celebrated Veterans Day with the campus. Over 150 veteran students, alumni and community members attended.

On Wednesday, November 8th, the VRC PreHealth Program and the West LA branch of Cal Vet Veterans Home hosted an information session for veterans and military-connected students at the Veteran Resource Center. As patient care experience is essential for pre-med and pre-health students, walked students through the application process

Students met Stephen, their VA staff member, to provides Bruin Veterans with information on their VR&E benefits (chapter 31). VRC staff will also be here to answer questions about chapter 33, 35, Cal Vet and 1606. Lunch was also provided.

The UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine hosted an information session for veterans and military-connected students for those who are pre-health and interested in applying to medicine school.

The UCLA Pre-Health Program for Military-Connected Students hosted an event to introduce the program specifically for veterans and military-connected students who are pre-health and interested in pursuing a career in healthcare(Medicine, Dental, etc.).

The founder introduced how the Pre-Law program can help student Veterans and dependents apply to law school.
