Veteran Benefit Submission Process

BruinBill Update for Aug. 18, 2022:
Tuition and fees for UCLA undergraduate/graduate students have been posted to students Bruin Bill. If you have submitted your Certificate of Eligibility, Cal Vet Fee Waiver, or other benefit approval document via myUCLA, you have no further action on your part. The UCLA School Certifying Official will begin posting CalVet Waivers and certifying Federal benefits on rolling basis after 8/20. The CalVet Waiver will reflect on the student’s BruinBill as follows:

  • “Veteran’s Dependent WVR Q-ED”
  • “Veteran’s Dependent WVR Q-Reg”

And, if student is attending a professional school:

  • “Veteran’s DPNDNT (name of program) WV”

If you are a Ch.33/31 you will receive an automated email from the VA confirming certification. A fee deferral will be placed on your account, so you are listed in paid status. In addition, a credit memo will be applied to your BruinBill, so you don't have to wait for VA payment to receive a refund (If applicable). The credit memo will eventually be removed from your BruinBill once UCLA receives the VA Payment to prevent over awards.

If you are a Ch.35/1606/30 you will receive an automated email from the VA confirming certification.

All Certifications and waiver applications are occurring on a rolling basis based on benefit type priority. Keep in mind the fee payment deadline for graduate and undergraduate students is 9/20, so certifications and waiver postings will occur continuously up to that date. If your documents are received late in the cycle (after the fee payment deadline) we will continue to certify after the deadline date, but it’s recommend to have your COE &/or Calvet waiver submitted before your fee payment deadline.

The Veteran Resource Center is offering in-person operations. All Bruins and visitors are required to follow the UCLA COVID protocols. If you are not able to or choose not to meet these requirements, we look forward to meeting with you virtually.
