Veterans in Humanities
ABOUT:
Established in 2024, We are a veteran-led group dedicated to educating, connecting, and highlighting the growing research interests and opportunities of our military-connected peers within the humanities disciplines.
PURPOSE:
Our mission is to strengthen and foster a robust military-connected community at UCLA and beyond by empowering students through five core pillars:
-
Academic Advancement: Hosting specialized writing workshops and providing direct support for fellowship and grant applications.
-
Interdisciplinary Inclusion: Integrating with the medical humanities and creating unique exposure to research and methodologies from across adjacent fields.
-
Graduate School Preparation: Demystifying the graduate school selection and admissions process to prepare students for higher levels of academia.
-
Research & Discourse: Providing a dedicated, collaborative space for student panel discussions, guest lectures, and peer research presentations.
-
Career Integration: Facilitating a smooth transition from earning a humanities degree to entering the modern workforce.
By bridging the gap between critical military perspectives and academic scholarship, we ensure that military-connected scholars have the community, resources, and platform needed to excel in the humanities.
