Marcee Davis
Assistant Director - VA Benefits, Compliance, & Lead SCO
 As of Summer 2023, Marcee Davis serves as the Assistant Director of Veterans Benefits Administration and Lead School Certifying Official (SCO) at UCLA. A U.S. Navy veteran, Marcee’s work, advocacy, and research center on supporting military-connected students and their families in achieving academic and personal success.
Marcee served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 2003 to 2007 as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate and Plane Captain, deploying to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with aviation squadron VAQ-130 aboard the USS Harry S. Truman and later to Afghanistan with VAQ-134 during Operation Enduring Freedom. She continued her service in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 2007 to 2014.
Before joining UCLA, Marcee served as the VA School Certifying Official and Financial Aid Advisor at UC Santa Barbara (2020–2023), where she strengthened cross-campus coordination between the VA, financial aid, and student accounts offices. Her commitment to veterans’ education extends beyond campus—she has volunteered as a peer counselor with Service to School, helping first-generation veterans prepare for university life, and served as a field representative for a Southern California congresswoman on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, focusing on local and national policy issues impacting veterans.
Marcee is also a founding member and former president of the Santa Barbara County Veterans Collaborative, where she continues to support interagency partnerships that improve educational, career, and wellness outcomes for veterans and their dependents.
At UCLA, she leads compliance and implementation efforts for all VA Education Benefits and the CalVet Fee Waiver, guiding students, families, and departments through complex federal and state benefit processes. Her current work includes developing veteran and dependent education benefit training for UC staff, contributing to systemwide UCOP reporting standards, and advocating for policy improvements that enhance data accuracy and financial aid equity for military-connected students.
Marcee is a proud graduate of De Anza College, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern California.
